Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Volunteer Guatemala
This program is a wonderful chance to work abroad closely with injured or sick animals in Central America on your gap year or career breaks. The program focuses on rehabilitating native animals to Guatemala, with volunteers needed to play a vital role in the daily running of the centre.
You should consider this placement as a volunteer in Guatemala if you would like to work with animals during your gap year and you want to have a worthwhile volunteer experience travelling and working Central America.
Volunteer Role
Whilst volunteering, you will be helping to care and feed for the animals at the centre, which included macaws, parrots, howler and spider monkeys, ocelots, margays, taras, coatimundis, and kinkajous. Nearly all of these animals have been rescued from smugglers and are very young, needing constant attention and care.
There will be opportunities to take part in animal releases, veterinary medical treatment and wildlife surveys, though the scheduling of these activities is irregular and we can't guarantee you will be able to participate in them all.
Project LocationLocated 45 kilometres from world famous Mayan archaeological site of Tikal.
