This program gives volunteers the opportunity to make a valuable contribution to a rehab sanctuary for Wildlife. It is essential work and your time given will be very appreciated.
The Volunteer Role
As a worker on this program you will be helping with daily operations and management of this rehabilitation reserve. Because the ultimate goal of the program is to release injured or abused animals back into the wild, there is little unnecessary contact between humans and animals. The program concentrates on getting the animals back to health as soon as possible.
This Volunteering in South Africa program will give you in experience in practical work on conservation projects such mending reserve fences, clearing roads, and helping to build enclosures. You will be given a thorough grounding in the local ecology and see how essential these rehabilitation and conservation projects really are.
You will be also be helping to feed and care for the animals that have been rescued, and cleaning their enclosures is a necessary task to aid their recovery. You will have the chance to take part in rescues and watch veterinary procedures when the opportunities arise.
Project Location
The sanctuary is located in the Limpopo Province close to Kruger National Park.
AccommodationVolunteers stay in rustic, tented accommodation with a private toilet block, lounge area and self-catering kitchen under a thatched roof.
