Sri Lanka Orphanage Project
The Sri Lanka Orphanage Home shelters girls aged two to 18 years of age. It also houses a few elderly ladies.
The Volunteer Project
Your role on this project will be to help teach the orphanage children the core subjects of English and maths in a happy work environment. You may also be asked to help out in drama, reading, creative lessons, sports and games. It goes without saying that children who leave the school with a better education are likely to have a more successful career. Your role is therefore crucial to the development of the children.
You are not required to work at the weekends which leaves you free to explore this beautiful country. Volunteers often visit the world heritage sites including the Dambulla cave temples, the Royal City of Kandy and the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Or they soak up the suns rays on the glorious beaches just below Colombo on the south west coast. For the more adventurous traveler, there is jungle trekking, mountain biking, diving, bird watching, elephant safaris etc.
Project Location
Sri Lanka is a developing country. It is warm and welcoming and located in the azure blue Indian Ocean with its white sandy beaches and tropical climate.
The project is based in the Capital city of Colombo which is situated on the south west coast of the island.
Accommodation & MealsVolunteers live with a local Sri Lankan family for the duration of their program. The family home will be within walking distance of the orphanage and will provide them with three meals a day.

Programme Summary:
