The aim of this program is to help rescue many of the threatened, injured and orphaned animals hurt every year in this part of Africa. This Real Gap Volunteer project is an excellent opportunity in helping to rehabilitate and conserve wildlife in Africa.

Our Real Gap Noah’s Ark Project is located at a family based farm that dedicates its time to creating a stable and secure environment for injured or neglected animals. Running now for about 20 years and set in the savannah of Africa, it holds the distinguished record of never turning down a home for an animal. A new resident arrives every week, which means you’ll be very busy helping look after the animals living here.
What started as a hobby when the family rescued a small monkey, is now a full-time occupation with forty-five people working at the farm. You’ll be part of a dedicated and loving team who are always busy with the many animals who find their way there. On this Volunteer in Namibia project you’ll find yourself:

Volunteer Role

The volunteer work in Namibia includes:
  • Feeding the animals such as cheetahs and baboons
  • Care for animals
  • Cleaning the enclosures
  • Assisting in the repair and building of structures on the farm,
  • Acting as a field guide and assisting in the clinic with injured animals
Depending on what time of the year you arrive, and if the center is very busy, then you may have a chance to participate in the Wild Dog research project.   This includes identifying the wild dogs taken in, studying patterns of family behavior and noting eating patterns.

Our project takes you 312kms east of Windhoek, which is very close to the Botswana border, to the remote and stunning Omaheke region, which covers 4.9 million hectares of farming land.
