Japan Ski and Snowboard CSI Course
This program is perfectly suited to individuals looking to work and train in the winter sports industry, but who have limited time to qualify. Whether you are an school/university leaver or someone simply looking to escape the rat race and pressures of regular work, you will attain the primary qualification needed to instruct your chosen sport.
The Ski and Snowboard CourseThis program is one of the best prospects to gain your NZSIA/SBINZ CSI Qualification, allowing you to teach up to advanced (as well as beginner students - levels 1 and 2). The program is fairly intense, and has less time available to work on your own technique than the eleven-week programs; however, with up to 75 hours of on-snow instruction and your own free time to work on the technical aspects of your skiing or snowboarding, you will have plenty of opportunity to reach all the required standards.
One of the main benefits of this program is that you can apply for a Japanese Working Holiday Visa in advance of arriving to Japan. This allows you to do paid ski/snowboard instruction at one of the ski schools when you have completed your course. The coordinator of the instructor program has good links with many of the ski schools in the area and can offer you help in gaining an interview.
The Qualification The programme is designed to help you achieve the NZSIA/SBINZ CSI Qualification.
CSI: The Certificate in Ski Instruction (CSI) is an entry-level qualification that permits you to teach novices to advanced beginners. The course takes four days to complete and requires you to demonstrate the ability to teach basic principles, analyze individual ability i.e. weaknesses and strengths, safety, class handling and to be able to deal with both children and adult beginners.
LocationNiseko, Hokkaido, Japan
Accommodation and MealsAll accommodation is included in the program at the small village of Hirafu. You will be staying in shared self-catering apartments/houses with other students from your course. The houses are all fully furnished, with washing and cooking facilities and all of the necessary modern conveniences.
Meals aren’t included on the course because of the varying schedules of each student and the need to be flexible in incorporating the weather. Students are expected to cater for themselves and should budget around £40-50/week for meals.
