Help the children of Dominican Republic
This project is a great chance to work with children in Latin America. The current financial troubles in the Dominican Republic has left thousands of families impoverished, with more vulnerable people such as orphans and children in greater need of volunteer help.
If you are interested in helping children in the Dominican Republic through education care, and social development, you should consider taking part in this volunteer placement. The Dominican Republic has much to offer in terms of travel and work, making it a wonderful place to go for a single voluntary work experience or during a mini gap year out.
The Volunteer ProjectsOur Dominican Republic volunteer projects with the “Children of Don Bosco”, Casa de la Tia Tatiana and Villa Bendicion orphanages support street children and orphans in the Dominican Republic. These agencies provide vocational training, schooling and social and emotional support to street children and orphans.
Volunteers are seriously needed to work with the children, accompanying them in their classrooms and after school activities, helping with homework, and teaching English as well as sports. The children continually ask about past volunteers by name and treasure the one to one love and attention that gap year students and other volunteers give to them.
Accommodation and MealsStaying with in a home-stay situation allows you to experience and live Dominican culture and family life first-hand, becoming completely immersed in Spanish language practice. Families are selected carefully and are matched according to individual details and preferences.
Besides being a source of language practice and support, families give students physical support and provide breakfast and dinner as well as giving access to washing machines for laundry.
