Disabled Children Volunteer Project Peru
On this popular and rewarding social project, you can spend time working with mentally and physically handicapped children, helping them strive to make a better life for themselves.
You can combine this program with our language & culture experience. It’s a great way to learn the language before you join your Peru volunteer project, an excellent way to experience Peru’s culture and certainly the best way to meet the locals!
Volunteer Role
Help is needed in the infirmary, assisting in areas such as feeding, washing, dressing and playing with the children. Any professionals who have trained in physical therapy and speech therapy can help in these areas.
Whether you are experienced in this field or you just simply want to help out for a good cause then this is one of the most satisfying and rewarding programs you could possibly be involved with.
Volunteers are usually needed to help in the afternoons as the children are at the school in the mornings. If you want to work in the mornings too then help is always appreciated in teaching speech, Spanish, basic math, and games. Any additional ideas or skills that volunteers are able to bring and incorporate into the lessons is very appreciated.
Project Location
The program is set in the beautiful colonial city of Cusco about five minutes walk from the language school and your volunteer accommodation.
Accommodation & Meals
The shared accommodation is at one of our student apartments. The apartment is centrally situated and is close to the main Plaza De Armas, restaurants, shops, bars and clubs.
Meals aren’t included in the volunteer project. Volunteers cook their own meals and normally take it in turns. Food is very cheap to buy in Peru.
