Cape Town Teaching and Development Project
You have the chance to be involved in a number of diverse and rewarding program, such as caring for young children in a women’s shelter, teaching secondary and primary education and teaching new skills and abilities to those keen to support themselves in Africa. You will offer children from difficult backgrounds the support, attention and love they so desperately need and deserve.
Volunteer RoleThis program involves many aspects of community work, primary school teaching, and development. We support various community development initiatives, as outlined below. Our plan is to provide you with a diverse and varied experience, which allows you insights into various areas of life of underprivileged individuals in Cape Town. You will have the chance to get involved in some of the following projects:
- Central Primary School
- Junior School
- Cape Town Shelter for Women
- The Refugee Orphanage
LocationCape Town, South Africa
Accommodation and MealsWhile in Cape Town, you will stay in a fantastic Art Deco backpacker-style lodge in shared bedrooms with four – six other volunteers. The lodge is in the heart of Woodstock, less than a 500-metre walk to four of our projects.
You won’t be able to miss this lodge with its bright purple and silver signage – it is very retro looking. It is located only 4km from the city and waterfront areas and 1km to Observatory cafes/pubs/clubs. Just a short walk away from where you are located you will find a few fast food outlets, cafes, banks and public transport (bus or mini-taxi).
